Swindon Scrapstore is appealing for any help, assistance or surplus goods after an electrical fire left their warehouse devastated. Thankfully, nobody was inside the building at the time, and all neighbouring buildings were evacuated as the local fire service put out the blaze. Unfortunately the fire, which occurred on January 4th, left the building unusable and all of the scrap store's stock completely unsalvageable.

When you think of re-use, an image of pop star Lady Gaga would not necessarily be the first to come to mind. But her eccentric fashion sense meant the American singer epitomised re-use last year when the foil material for one of her dresses came from the Suffolk Scrapstore.

I think the conference was an emotional time for everyone. Why would I say this? I think that for those of you attending it was the chance to be together, the chance to see some progress and feel perhaps our collective excitement, celebrating who we are.

The 5th of November is set to be remembered for more than fireworks as its the date of the first ScrapstoresUK Conference and AGM. Thanks to funding and support from The Tudor Trust and Worcester Rugby Club the event is set to establish a unique forum for discussion and information sharing. With so many Scrapstores across the UK affected by cuts in grants in funding many are looking for ways to stay economicaly viable.
