Making Friends at RWM
Whilst I was off relaxing and enjoying my holiday, Nikki was slaving away back at the office preparing for our exhibit at the RWM.
I jetted back and straight onto a train for the long journey to Birmingham. Once arriving our adventures began, setting up our stand, preparing drinks (its thirsty work getting the REUSE word out there) and preparing Ollie the owl for his adoring fans.
Even though the RWM was very hard working, talking to people who were amazed and enraptured by the work of scrapstores and resource centres made it fun. Ollie the Owl, Shelley the Snail and the Toadstools (Look with your eyes not with your hands!! -The times we had to repeat this, Argh!!) were particular crowd pleasers as was expected. Everyone enjoyed playing our game of guessing what they were made of.
ScrapstoresUK exhibiting at the RWM was a complete success. Our surveys were all filled out and usually led to someone wanting to know more. We made new friends (as you can see below) and had many people wanting to know how they can be part of the reuse/scrapstores world. :) Nikki also had the chance to ask Guardian Journalist and The One Show Broadcaster Lucy Siegle for her thoughts on the need to invest in reuse above recycling.
I am now looking forward to next year's RWM and getting to know even more people!! :)
