making reuse child’s play

We bring a little rainbow of happiness through community inspired and created gift boxes to help children suffering under the cloud of life limiting illness.
Reuseful UK would like to introduce you to a concept to brighten the lives of children experiencing long term illnesses within Fenland.
Many children experiencing long term debilitating illnesses do not have the same opportunities as other children. Their lives often involve hospital visits, continual medical treatment and poor health. Many lack opportunities for making personal choices, social inclusion and spending time with others to do fun activities and play. This has a negative impact on the mental health of many young people, together with their families which isolates them further.
Our successful pilot project has seen 25 children in Fenland receiving a ‘Box of Rainbows’ with the last few boxes set to be delivered in the next few months. Typically packs have included a selection of craft kits, felt, fabrics, glue, coloured paper, card, cork, pipe cleaners, pom poms, wool and some creative ideas sheets to provide inspiration.
This has given 25 families the opportunity to play, be creative, have a sensory experience, which we hope has enabled them to have fun while spending time with a loved one who helps them.
Boxes were allocated to 5 for each of the market towns within Fenland – Chatteris, March, Whittlesey and Wisbech and the remaining 5 allocated where most needed.
We have appreciated your support in reaching out to those families that have benefitted and thank you for sharing and liking our Facebook page.
We are now seeking funding to roll out the project regionally and then nationally. If you would like any further information, please feel free to contact the Enquiries team on 0560 364 9391.
